take you from the majestic Kinabatangan River to Borneo’s untouched
hidden gem, the Danum Valley.
You’ll be searching for pygmy elephants, orangutans, proboscis monkeys
and over 500 species of birds + more. From photographing hunting
Kingfishers through meandering tributaries to capturing magical Bornean
Gibbons amongst thick rainforest surrounds.

Venture deep into one of Earth's oldest rainforests on an unforgettable expedition through Malaysian Borneo. From rescued orangutans taking their first steps back to freedom, to wild primates swinging through 130-million-year-old jungle canopy—this is nature at its most raw and magnificent.
Day 1 | Arrival in Sepilok
Gateway to the Jungle
Touch down in Sandakan and feel the humid embrace of the tropics. Your driver awaits to whisk you through palm-lined roads to your forest retreat.

Day 2 | Sepilok
Face to Face with the Red Apes
🦧 Sepilok Orangutan and Sun bear Rehabilitation Centres — watch these gentle giants feed and play on forest platforms before going wildlife spotting in the Rainforest Discovery Centre — elevated walkways through a pristine dipterocarp forest

Day 3 | Sepilok → Kinabatangan River
Into Crocodile Country
Morning at leisure to soak in the forest atmosphere. After a Sandakan lunch, journey two hours east in style aboard a speed-boat to the mighty Kinabatangan—Sabah's longest river and a wildlife corridor like no other. Touch down in Sukau, a wildlife hotspot.
🚤 Late afternoon cruise — glide past proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and maybe a glimpse of pygmy elephants at the water's edge.

Day 4 | Kinabatangan River
River Safari
Two cruises. Countless encounters.

Mist rises as proboscis monkeys and orangutans forage. Cruise the famous Kinabatangan river searching for wildlife and explore Oxbow Lake for proboscis monkeys, orangutans, elephants, hornbills, and more that call this flooded forest home.

Day 5 | Kinabatangan → Danum Valley
Journey to Pristine Wilderness
Leave the floodplains behind and climb into the mountains. A rugged 4WD transfer delivers you to Danum Valley—438 square kilometres of virgin rainforest, untouched by logging and home to some of Borneo's rarest creatures.

Today is devoted to one mission: finding truly wild creatures in their natural habitat—no platforms, no feeding times, just forest and fortune. Track through primary forest with an expert rainforest guide honing your wildlife photography skills.

Day 7 | Danum Valley
Life in the Canopy
🌉 Canopy walkway — 27 metres above the forest floor, eye-level with hornbills and gibbons
🌿 Deep jungle trek — waterfalls, medicinal plants, and the symphony of a thousand insects

Day 8 | Danum Valley → Lahad Datu
Gibbons at Dawn
Rise early for a final trek in search of Bornean gibbons singing their haunting duets and red leaf monkeys leaping through the canopy. Bid farewell to the rainforest and descend to the coastal town of Lahad Datu.
